A new kind of tile that only tells your smart home something, like a GOODNIGHT tile that runs your Home Assistant automation and never leaves Home.
Tiles that only send a signal. Add tile now has a third card, "Sends a smart-home signal", once Settings > Smart home has a connection. Name the tile, add a note your automation can read, pick the connection if you have more than one, and save it. A tap sends "tile.pressed" with the tile's name and note, without launching another program, and the home screen stays put.
A mark on the tile. A tap pulses at once, then shows a green check when your smart home answers or a red mark when it doesn't, for about 3 seconds. A tap while it is sending or showing its mark is ignored. Every send is still in Settings > Smart home's recent list.
Removing a connection that tiles use. Settings > Smart home names every tile that uses it before it goes. A tile that only sends to it stays on the home screen and shows the red mark when tapped, until you pick a new connection for it in the editor. A program tile stops sending its signal and still launches.
Update checks. Besides the weekly check, RoomCaddie checks for an update at the first start after an update and when setup finishes. A check put off because a program was running runs once it ends.
A wording fix. A new tile's draft says "On the Home screen" (it said "Home screen screen").
Already have RoomCaddie? Download and run the installer, then choose Keep my room and update. Your room stays as it is.
RoomCaddie 1.6.1
Nine new themes for golf, football and Halloween in a smaller picker, Home tiles that rise and glow under the mouse, and on the Courses page you can remove a tag you made and flip any sort.
Nine new themes. Yardage Book and Night Range for golf; Gridiron, Playbook and Pigskin for football; Jack-o'-Lantern, Boo!, Witching Hour and Haunted House for Halloween. Thirty-four in all.
A smaller theme picker. In the editor and the setup wizard, a row of groups (Golf, Sports, Holidays, Movie night, Lounge, Retro, Classic) shows one group's themes at a time. It opens on the group of the theme you have.
Tiles that answer the mouse. On Home and the screens under it, a tile rises a little and glows in the theme's colour while the mouse is on it, and dips when pressed. A touchscreen shows the press only; with Windows' Animation effects off, the glow shows without the movement. Cinema and Aurora Glass use the same glow instead of their own. The editor stays still.
Remove a tag you made. On the Courses page, Edit tags (beside + Your own tag) puts an × on the tags you made; tap one to remove it. A tag that is on courses asks first, then comes off every course that had it. The eleven starter tags stay.
Flip a sort. Tap the sort you are on again to run it the other way; an arrow on it shows which way. The page still opens at Size, biggest first, and remembers nothing between visits.
Licence agreement 1.1. An installer we have approved may now install RoomCaddie in a client's room (sections 2, 3, 4 and 15). No other term changed.
Help is up to date. The Help screen now counts thirty-four themes.
RoomCaddie 1.6.0
A Courses page shows every GSPro course on this PC with its size and last round started, keeps your own stars, notes and tags, and deletes several courses at once.
Courses in the editor. The edit bar has Courses... beside Settings.... The page lists every course in GSPro's courses folder, found through GSPro's own log, with its name, designer, location and size, and the space left on the drive.
Last round started. Each course shows the date a round was last started on it, from GSPro's own round history on this PC, or None recorded. The page says where that history starts. If the history can't be read, dates show Unavailable and everything else still works.
Sort, find and filter. Sort by size, last round started, name or stars; find a course by name; filter by a tag or by None recorded. Your library, on the right, shows the total, the courses with no round started, and your ten biggest.
Stars, a note and tags. Tap a course for 1 to 5 stars, a short note and tags: eleven to start, from Easy to Tour stop, plus your own. Every tag shows under the course's name. They stay when a course is deleted and come back if you download it again.
Delete several at once. Tick the courses, then Delete; one confirmation names each course and the space it frees. Courses still offered in GSPro can be downloaded again there; some, like ones from a private server, may not be.
Checked as it goes. Delete waits until GSPro and its launcher are closed, and checks again before each course. Every folder is read back; one that is not fully gone stays on the list with what is left, ready to try again.
GSPro's own things are safe. Delete removes the course folder only, never GSPro's history, settings or the Registry; GSPro drops the course from its list the next time it starts. GSPro's practice area and multi range are listed but never deleted.
Courses kept somewhere else. Change folder... picks the folder that holds your courses; Use GSPro's own folder goes back.
Help is up to date. The Help screen now covers the room logo, the power button and all twenty-five themes.
Privacy policy 1.4. It now says what the Courses page reads (GSPro's course folders and the dates rounds were started) and what it deletes (only the courses you choose). It also names our web host and the start-up entry. Nothing RoomCaddie sends changed.
RoomCaddie 1.5.0
Your room can wear its own logo, a power button on the home screen shuts down, restarts or sleeps the PC, and fifteen new themes bring the looks to twenty-five.
A room logo. The editor has a Room logo row under Room name. Your own logo... takes a picture file from your PC (PNG, JPG, WebP or BMP, up to 20 MB, a still picture) and the room wears it on the home screen and the idle screen; Change... swaps it, Remove takes it off.
Where and how big. Four placements: above the room's name, in place of it, behind it as a faint watermark, or at the centre of the screen behind everything. Five sizes from Small to Extra large; Huge is offered at the centre only.
Your backups carry it. A backup made with a logo restores with the logo; an older backup restores with no logo, as it was.
If the file goes missing. The screens show the room's name as before and the Room logo row says so, with Your own logo... to set it again.
A power button on Home. Top right, beside minimize. Shut down and Restart ask once more before they go; Sleep and Exit to Windows act at once. Sleep shows only when Windows says this PC can sleep.
Programs close politely first. Before Shut down or Restart, each program RoomCaddie started is asked to close and given 5 seconds. One still open is named, with Show (to answer its own question), Cancel, or Shut down anyway. Windows closes everything else the way it always does.
If Windows says no. RoomCaddie comes back to the front with a plain message and Try again.
Restart comes back to RoomCaddie. With Start with Windows on, RoomCaddie opens again by itself after the restart. Turning Start with Windows on also switches RoomCaddie on in Windows' own Startup apps list, and a save says so if Windows refuses.
Smart home at shut down. Shutting down or restarting, from RoomCaddie or the Start menu, sends your smart home connections the same signals as Exit: the On end of a tile still running, and RoomCaddie exits.
Fifteen new themes. Pit Lane, Topo Map, Drive-In, Admit One, Vinyl Lounge, Green Phosphor, Blueprint, Ski Lodge, Tiki Bar, The Study, Deep Sea, Comic Book, Atomic Age, Observatory and Corkboard join the ten you know; both pickers show all twenty-five.
The editor keeps its place. Picking a theme no longer jumps the editor back to the top.
One tile look retired. One look in the tile picker never showed art of its own; it is gone, and a tile that used it shows the default look.
RoomCaddie 1.4.0
RoomCaddie can now tell Home Assistant, or any web address, when a tile starts or ends and when the room starts, goes idle, wakes or exits, so your lights and gear follow the room.
Settings > Smart home. Add Home Assistant (its address and a webhook id) or any web address (GET or POST), press Test, and read the answer in plain words. Each connection can also hear the room's own events: started, idle screen on, idle screen off, RoomCaddie exits.
Tile signals. Every activity tile has a Smart home row under its steps: On start, On end (with the minutes it ran), and an optional note. The same signal shows as a step in the tile's list, so you can move it and put a wait after it.
Never a delay. A signal goes out alongside the launch; the program starts the same instant. A hub that does not answer gets one retry and is reported afterwards, under the clock on the home screen, never during the activity. Settings shows the last answer per connection and the last 20 signals.
Your network only, by default. Addresses on the internet need a tick; the webhook id and the URL are hidden like a password after Save and never leave your PC in support info.
A guide page. roomcaddie.com/smart-home walks through the Home Assistant automation step by step; the same page opens from the Settings row.
RoomCaddie 1.3.0
RoomCaddie now tells you on the home screen when a newer version is ready, and shows what changed the first time it opens after an update.
A notice on the home screen when a newer version is ready. It names the version, says in a few lines what changed, and has two buttons: Get it opens the download page in your browser; Not now hides that version's notice until a newer one comes. Nothing downloads or installs by itself.
Behind by more than one? The notice says how many updates are waiting since your version.
An "Update successful" card the first time RoomCaddie opens after an update. It lists everything that changed in every version you skipped, newest first. Got it closes it; it shows once.
Settings > Updates shows the same lines under the newer version's link.
RoomCaddie 1.2.9
Every program on the screen you pick.
Each program opens on the screen you choose. In the tile editor every step has Which screen. RoomCaddie moves the program there and keeps it there. Drag it somewhere by hand and it stays where you put it until it closes.
A screen that's off doesn't lose the program. It opens on the main display with a note, and moves back the moment that screen comes back.
Programs RoomCaddie doesn't start can have a screen too. Settings > Screens > Add - a launch monitor's own program, a startup app.
Identify screens shows every screen's number for 5 seconds.
A program that can't start is refused before Windows puts its error box on the room screen.
Removing RoomCaddie with "delete my data" now removes the room and its browser profile too.
RoomCaddie 1.1.4
Signed, and a program that is already open now comes forward.
RoomCaddie is signed by Exit 2 Software LLC. Windows can now tell you who made it. Check that name on the blue screen at install.
Tapping a program that is already open brings it forward. It used to tell you the program was already running and leave you to Alt-Tab to it yourself.
