From download to a working room, step by step.

From download to a working room screen, step by step. The same text is on roomcaddie.com and under Settings > Quick start inside RoomCaddie.

  1. Download RoomCaddie Setup from roomcaddie.com. Your browser may warn you that the file is not commonly downloaded. RoomCaddie is new, this is normal. That warning is about how many people have downloaded the file, not about what is inside it. It is signed by Exit 2 Software LLC, the company that makes it. Choose the option that keeps the file - in some browsers that button reads "Download suspicious file" - then double-click it. You do not need to be an administrator, and Windows will not ask you for permission. If Windows shows a blue "Windows protected your PC" screen, click More info. Make sure it says Exit 2 Software LLC, then click Run anyway.
  2. Open RoomCaddie from the Start Menu or the desktop shortcut. It fills the screen. From now on it starts by itself when you sign in to Windows (Settings > Start with Windows turns that off).
  3. Enter your key. The first thing RoomCaddie shows is the key screen. Paste the key from your purchase email (under RoomCaddie key), check the name shown for this PC, and press Check key. This needs the internet once; after that the key stays on the PC and you are never asked again. Nothing else opens until our store has accepted the key.
  4. The setup wizard runs the first time. It scans your PC for the programs you already have (your golf simulator, Steam games, streaming apps, the sites you use) and asks what your room is for. Tick what you want. Nothing is added that you did not tick. Give the room a name. When you finish, you land in the editor with your screen already built.
  5. Look at your screen. Press "Done editing" and the home screen is what the room shows: big tiles, one tap each. A tile with a folder icon opens more tiles. The power button at the top right shuts down, restarts or sleeps the PC.
  6. Tap a tile. The program starts full screen. RoomCaddie waits behind it. When GSPro closes, the home screen comes back on its own (on a tile where GSPro is the main program, which the setup wizard sets up); for everything else, press the shortcut in the next step.
  7. Come back early. Press Ctrl+Alt+S and RoomCaddie comes to the front with the program still running behind it. For GSPro on its main-program tile, a chip on the session bar takes you back to it; anything else shows there as an "Opened" reminder. A Store app comes back when you tap its tile again.
  8. Change anything. Press the pencil (✎) in the corner of the home screen to open the editor: add a tile from the scan, from a website address, or by browsing to a program; rename; pick artwork or one of your own pictures; change the theme (there are dozens) or give the room its own logo. Every change is saved as you make it and a backup is taken before each one.
  9. Settings live at the top of the editor: your message under the room name, the ambient screen (what shows when the room is idle), backups, the license key, updates, support info, and the way out (Exit; the power button on the home screen has Exit to Windows too).
  10. Get help. Settings > Support info > Copy support info, paste it into an email to [email protected] with what you saw. Your name, folder paths and key are removed before it leaves your PC. What support covers is on the support page.
  11. Not for you? Fourteen days, no questions: reply to your purchase email and ask for the refund.
