Leagues

Run a league on your sim: players finish a GSPro round, press one key, and RoomCaddie keeps the standings.

Updated in 1.7.1

What it does

RoomCaddie runs a league on your sim and keeps track of the standings for you. After you finish a GSPro round, press the League key on the final scorecard. RoomCaddie reads the card and saves the round. The League key is Ctrl+Alt+L, or Ctrl+Alt+K if another program holds Ctrl+Alt+L. The League page shows which key works. No one types a score: every number comes from the scorecard on the screen. You can have up to 4 leagues open at once, each with up to 8 players.

Before you start

  • RoomCaddie reads GSPro's final scorecard; it does not read scorecards from other golf programs.
  • Know each player's name exactly as GSPro shows it on the scorecard.

Step by step

Open the League page

  1. On Home, press the pencil (✎) to open the editor.
  2. Press League… in the editor bar.
  3. When you are done, press ‹ Back to editing.

Start a league

  1. Press New league (or + New league once a league exists).
  2. Enter a Name of 1 to 40 characters.
  3. Choose Holes, Rank by, Rounds a week, Scores, Handicap and Length (see Settings below). You can change any of these later.
  4. Press Make league.

Add your players

  1. Under Players, enter a name in the box that says "Name as GSPro shows it".
  2. Enter the name exactly as GSPro shows it on the scorecard. Capital letters do not matter, but every other letter must match.
  3. Press Add.
  4. Repeat for each player, up to 8, the most a GSPro card holds.

Save a round

  1. Finish the round in GSPro and leave the final scorecard on the screen. If the card is not showing, press T in GSPro.
  2. Press the League key: Ctrl+Alt+L, or the key shown on the League page.
  3. A box over GSPro says "Read confirmed" and shows the names it read.
  4. Tick the league by clicking it or pressing its number key. If only one league is open, it is already ticked.
  5. Press Enter to save. The box says "Saved to" and the league's name.
  6. Press Enter again to return to GSPro.

To close the box without saving, press Esc.

Look at a round

  1. On the League page, tap a round in the Rounds list.
  2. The panel shows each player's gross and net score, along with a picture of the card as it appeared when saved.
  3. Tap the picture to see it full screen.
  4. Tap the round again, or the league's name at the top of the panel, to go back.

Void a wrong round

  1. Open the round.
  2. Press Void this round to remove it from the standings. The card stays in the list.
  3. To put the round back, press Unvoid.

Give a skipped round to a player

A name on the card is skipped if it is not on the players list. If the name belongs to one of your players, you can give them the round.

  1. Open the round. The skipped name says "skipped, not on this league's players list".
  2. Press Give this round to a player….
  3. Choose the player. Only the name changes; the scores stay exactly as read.
  4. Check the name against the card picture, then press Give it to and the player's name.

Rename a player

  1. Under Players, press Rename beside the name.
  2. Enter the new name and press Save. The player keeps their rounds, and cards must now show the new name exactly.

Remove a player

  1. Under Players, press Remove beside the name.
  2. Press Remove and the name again to confirm.

The player's rounds stay in the rounds list but leave the standings, and new cards skip their name. Add the player back to restore everything.

Change a league's settings

  1. Press Change settings….
  2. Change what you need and press Save settings. Saved rounds are scored again using the new settings, and nothing is deleted.

Show the standings on Home

  1. In the editor, press + Add tile.
  2. Under "What does it do?", choose Shows league standings.
  3. Under "Which league?", press Pick beside the league. The tile uses the league's name unless you entered one.

Tap the tile to open that league's standings full screen. You can view them but cannot make changes, and nothing launches. Press Home to go back.

Show the standings on the idle screen

  1. In the editor bar, press Settings….
  2. In Settings > Idle screen > League standings, press Off so it reads On.
  3. Under Which league, choose the league. One league shows at a time.

End a league

  1. Press End league….
  2. Press End league to confirm.

The league stops accepting rounds today. Its standings, rounds and card pictures move to Archived, where you can view them but cannot make changes. To keep playing, create a new league and enter its players.

Delete a league, or bring it back

  1. Press Delete league….
  2. Press Delete league to confirm. The league's rounds, standings and card pictures are deleted with it.
  3. To bring it back within 7 days, press Restore on its "Deleted" line on the League page.

Good to know

  • Names on the card must match the players list exactly, except for capital letters. A name that is one letter off does not match.
  • A name on the card is skipped if it is not on the players list. The box lists the skipped names after "Not in this league, skipped:".
  • If you save the same card twice, the box says "Already saved to" and the league's name. Nothing changes.
  • An unfinished round is saved but does not count. The box lists the players who have not finished after "Not a full 18-hole round, not counted:".
  • A 9-hole league counts a front nine or a back nine.
  • When you set Rounds a week, a player's round beyond that week's limit does not count, and the box says so.
  • Net is gross minus the handicap, rounded to whole strokes, with a half going to the player.
  • With Strokes over par, a round's net score uses the handicap from the player's earlier rounds, and a player's first round has a net score of par. With I set each player's, it uses the handicap you set. A saved round's net score changes only when you press Save settings, which scores every round again.
  • Strokes over par uses a player's most recent rounds (8, with Best 4 of last 8), keeps the best ones (4), and averages their strokes over par to one decimal place: +18, +20, +21 and +23 average to 20.5.
  • If a player has fewer rounds than the number needed to start, their handicap is the average of the available rounds. A dot beside their name marks it as provisional.
  • With I set each player's, enter a handicap from -10 to 72 beside each name under Players. It applies to rounds saved from then on.
  • In a points league, each week's 1st rounds form one event, and the 2nd rounds form the next. First place gets one point per player on the list, each place below gets one fewer, and ties share points.
  • A course outside your course folders still counts. Par comes from the card, and the round says "Course not in your library - par from the card".
  • A Weeks league ends automatically the day after its last week. A Rounds league ends when every player has that many counted rounds.
  • An ended league moves to Archived. Its standings and rounds are kept for viewing, but you cannot make changes.
  • RoomCaddie keeps a daily copy of the league file for 7 days. If the file cannot be read, it restores the newest good copy, and the League page shows which day the copy is from.
  • Every key label in the box is also a button you can click.
  • Anyone at the screen can change a league's settings or void a round. There is no PIN.
  • Scores never change. To remove a wrong round, you void it.
