Golf and the main program

The main program is the program RoomCaddie watches: GSPro closing brings the home screen back, and a second tap brings it forward.

Updated in 1.7.1

What it does

The main program is the one program on a tile that RoomCaddie watches. If it closes while it is in front, the home screen returns automatically. If you tap the tile again while the program is running, RoomCaddie brings it forward instead of starting a second copy. Currently, only GSPro can be the main program.

Before you start

  • Install GSPro with its own installer. RoomCaddie recognises GSPro by its installation folder, so a copy placed somewhere else cannot be the main program.

Step by step

Add GSPro as the main program

  1. Open the editor, press + Add tile, and choose Scan this PC.
  2. Tap GSPro. Its row says "RoomCaddie recognises this sim".
  3. Press Add 1 tile.

RoomCaddie marks GSPro as the main program. On the tile's GSPro card, under Main program, you then see "RoomCaddie recognises GSPro — it comes back to the home screen when GSPro closes." The setup wizard does the same when it finds GSPro.

Make GSPro the main program on a tile you already have

  1. Open the editor and tap the tile.
  2. On the GSPro card, under Main program, press Make this the main program.

This also sets the tile to return to the home screen when GSPro closes.

Start your launch monitor's software before GSPro

  1. Tap the GSPro tile in the editor and press + Add another program.
  2. Add your launch monitor's software from Scan this PC or Browse for a program….
  3. Press ▲ on its card until it is above GSPro. The programs start in the order their cards appear, from the top.

GSPro stays the main program wherever it is in the list.

Stop a program being the main program

  1. Tap the tile in the editor.
  2. On the program's card, press Stop being the main program.
  3. If the tile was set to return automatically, a box says "This removes the main program". Press Save, and use Stay until Home, or Cancel — change nothing.

Good to know

  • Only a program can be the main program. Steam games, Store apps, websites and smart-home signals cannot be the main program. Their cards explain why.
  • If RoomCaddie does not recognise a program, its card says "Launches fine, but only a sim RoomCaddie recognises can be the main program."
  • If a tile has a main program but is set to stay until someone presses Home, its card says "Marked as the main program, but this tile stays until someone presses Home". To have RoomCaddie watch the program, choose "Come back to the home screen when GSPro closes" under While it's running.
  • If your launch monitor starts GSPro by itself, the setup wizard's GOLF tile starts only the launch monitor's software, so GSPro never starts twice. That tile stays until you return because RoomCaddie cannot watch a Store app. A second tap brings the launch monitor's window forward.
  • The scan recognises these golf programs: GSPro, E6 Connect, The Golf Club 2019, Awesome Golf, Foresight FSX, Creative Golf 3D, ProTee Play, Trackman Performance Studio and Drills Golf Simulator. It also recognises software for these launch monitors: SkyTrak, FS Golf (FlightScope Mevo), Uneekor, Square Golf, Square Omni, ProTee VX and VTrack.
  • A tile's "On end" smart-home signal needs a main program. The Smart home chapter explains signals.

"is already running — Alt-Tab to it if you don't see it"Hold Alt and press Tab to switch to the game.
"can't confirm" the game "is still running right now, so it didn't start a second copy"Check the bar at the bottom of the home screen, or try again in a moment.
"is still starting — give it a moment"The tile is still starting after your first tap. Wait for it to finish starting.
The game closes a few seconds after it startsThe game closes by itself, often because it needs you to answer a question first. Start it once from Windows, answer its questions, then use the tile again.
