Pictures and the room logo
Pictures and the room logo: change a tile's artwork, put your own picture on a tile, and give the room its own logo on the home screen and the idle screen.
Updated in 1.7.1
What it does
Each tile shows artwork: a colour, an icon, a scene, your own picture, or the program's own icon. You can also add your own room logo to the home screen and the idle screen. RoomCaddie saves a copy of every picture you choose and includes it in your backups.
Before you start
- Your picture must be a jpg, png, webp or bmp file, up to 20 MB, with no animation.
- A PNG logo keeps its transparency. If you have a vector file (SVG), export it as a PNG first.
Step by step
Change a tile's artwork
- Open the editor and tap the tile.
- Beside Artwork, press Change….
- Tap a tab: Color, Icon, Scene, Your photo or App icon. App icon appears only for tiles that start a program.
- Tap a choice. The tile changes immediately, and the sheet stays open so you can try another choice.
- Press Done.
On the Icon and Scene tabs, tap the item with a ring around it again to remove it.
Put your own picture on a tile
- On the Artwork sheet, tap Your photo, then Your own picture.
- Choose the picture file. It appears on the tile immediately.
Moving or deleting the original file does not affect the tile. To remove the picture, open Your photo and tap Back to theme art.
Add the room logo
- Open the editor with no tile selected. Under Room logo, below Room name, press Your own logo....
- Choose the picture file. The logo appears above the room name at Medium size.
Place and size the logo
- Under Room logo, tap where you want the logo to appear: Above the name, In place of the name, Behind the name or Centre of the screen.
- Tap a size: Small, Medium, Large or Extra large. Huge is available only for Centre of the screen.
Each tap saves your choice immediately.
Change or remove the logo
- Open the editor with no tile selected and find Room logo.
- Press Change... and choose another file, or press Remove to take the logo off.

Good to know
- Color lets you choose from the theme's colours or pick any colour. Your chosen colour keeps the theme's finish and stays when you change the room's theme.
- An Icon appears over the tile's colour in the theme's ink colour; a Scene fills the tile and is recoloured to match the theme.
- A tile shows one kind of artwork at a time: your own picture replaces an icon or a scene.
- RoomCaddie's built-in pictures are made or licensed for RoomCaddie. It includes no third-party logos, box art or streaming artwork.
- Your pictures and logo are included in every backup and in the file you export. They stay on your PC unless you send that file somewhere.
- If the tiles leave too little room, a logo above or in place of the name appears smaller on the home screen or does not appear at all. The editor tells you this below the sizes.
- A saved Huge logo appears as Extra large anywhere except the centre. It returns to Huge when you choose Centre of the screen again.
If something goes wrong
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| "that file isn't a picture RoomCaddie can use (jpg, png, webp or bmp)" | Save the picture as one of those file types and choose it again. |
| "that picture is bigger than RoomCaddie supports (20 MB limit)" | Make the picture smaller or choose another. |
| "that picture moves (an animated file)" | The home screen stays still. Pick a still picture. |
| "The logo file is missing; pick it again." | Press Your own logo... and pick the file again. |
| "This room's tiles leave no room" for the logo "on the home screen" | Choose Behind the name or Centre of the screen, which still fit. |
| "is no longer in RoomCaddie's gallery" | That icon or scene is no longer available, so the tile shows its colour or the program's icon. Press Change… and pick another. |
